We are two writers who, for the time being, live on opposite coasts of the United States. On the fourteenth moon of every twenty-first fortnight, we meet at the Four Corners Monument, set-up a table, and take turns reading to each other from the illustrated On the Intellectual Beauty from Plotinus’ Fifth Ennead (a good children’s treatise out now on Random House). We generally have a thermos full of Americanos on hand, a cooler full of ice for Iced Americanos if necessary, and a few metal cups fashioned after those used by the staff of Fiorina ‘Fury’ 161–the penal colony from Alien 3. At the corner of our table are two boxes of unused cards from Trivial Pursuit Totally 80′s.
Alongside the trivia cards is a 13.99 bottle of Martini & Rossi Asti and a loaf of bread with another thermos full of cooked beans.
